Wallingford Little League Updated Safety Guidelines

2021 Wallingford Little League COVID and Safety Guidelines

These guidelines have been based on recommendations and guidelines set forth by the State of Connecticut, CAIC and the Town of Wallingford Health Department and the Parks and Recreation Department. It is imperative to keep all participants as safe as possible, this requires everyone’s cooperation. These guidelines are subject to change at any time.

Safety Guidelines:

  • Dugouts can be used, players and coaches must wear masks at all times while not actively in play. Alternately the bleachers and back stop areas will be reserved for players and coaches only. Teams should stay on their side of the field to ensure the cohort of the team.
  • Masks are not required on the field but its up to the player if they decide to wear one. All umpires and coaches must wear a mask at all times.
  • Players should have their own hand sanitizer and use as needed. Please make sure players have a spare mask as well.
  • Disinfectant will be supplied to every team to be used as needed.
  • Players should have their own equipment. Shared equipment must be disinfected between uses.
  • No parents or spectators are to be within 6 feet of the player only area. Please have your player come outside the zone to see you.
  • Spectator areas will be labeled but are past 1st and 3rd base circling the outfield.

Masks are to be worn by spectators at all times. Please keep 6 feet from the fence at all times, please social distance between families. Back stop areas, bleachers and 1st and 3rd baselines are for players and coaches only.

Quarantine Guidelines

These are the current quarantine guidelines for Connecticut youth sports regardless of indoor or outdoor sport. The guidelines are as follows:

1. If a child has tested positive, they are home for 10 days from when symptoms started or if asymptomatic, 10 days from positive test and 48 hours symptom free.

2. If a child is part of a cohort from school that is sent home to quarantine due to what is deemed as a direct contact or exposure, that child is out for 10 days. If said child begins having symptoms and or tests positive during the 10 day quarantine, they need to follow guidance in line 1.

3. If your league has a player/coach test positive and said player/coach was in direct contact with his/her team, the team is offline for 10 days.

4. If a game is played and it is reported a player during the game has tested positive, both teams playing in the game will be offline for 10 days.

Please note, the guidelines are fluid and changing daily/weekly. We anticipate as more people become vaccinated the guidance will adjust accordingly. As they do, we will send out updates to all of you. Like was done last summer/fall, if you encounter a positive case in your league and or play a team who notifies you of a positive case that could impact your league/teams please begin the contact tracing with the Wallingford Health Department and notify the safety commissioner and the league president. The health department will also be able to determine if the contact does or does not affect the entire team.
