WLL Suspending Activities Until At Least May 11 (UPDATE)

Coronavirus Update From League President Joshua Carroll

I just wanted to provide an update on the Coronavirus (COVID-19) as it relates to Wallingford Little League. I received another email from Little League International with a strong recommendation on suspending all League related activities until no earlier than May 11.

We will still be in communication with coaches to get rosters set and teams formed at all levels and you should hear from a coach shortly.

Should Little League determine that the recommended delay of the season will extend past May 11, we will provide timely notification and information regarding the impact of such delay.

We are committed to communicating with you on a consistent basis, providing you additional information and best practices to work through the coronavirus pandemic. Please look for our official communication via email, on our website (wllbball.com) or Little League International’s website (LittleLeague.org/coronavirus) and on their Facebook or Twitter (@LittleLeague)

Little League International is continuing to work with its medical advisors as it closely monitors the situation, and is advising all leagues and families to follow the guidelines set by the World Health OrganizationCenters for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), your state’s public health department (click here for a listing of state public health departments ), and other county and/or local authorities including precedents set by area school districts and government agencies.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to me.

Wallingford Little League Coronavirus Update

With the news of the increasing spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19), we wanted to contact you all directly to inform you that we are taking this situation very seriously. We, along with Little League International, are monitoring the situation closely. We will be following the guidelines set forth by the World Health Organization, Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as well as our state’s public health department and other county and/or local authorities including area school districts and government agencies.

We encourage all those that are actively participating in their Little League seasons – including players, volunteers, families, and fans – to follow the best practices as outlined by the CDC, which include washing hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds (if soap and water are not available, use alcohol-based hand sanitizer); avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands; and avoid close contact with people who are sick. We would also encourage you all to limit close, physical contact with others (including shaking hands). Click here to learn more about the CDC recommendations.

Also, if you or your child are ill; have a fever, cough, or respiratory condition; have a compromised immune system; are in any other group that may be at an increased risk of contracting a virus like the coronavirus; or have recently traveled to a country listed on the CDC’s Risk Assessment by Country, we encourage you or your child to refrain from Little League-related activities until cleared by your healthcare provider.

Little League International encourages us to exercise the utmost precaution following the guidance of local, state and federal health agencies. In addition, tipping caps instead of shaking hands/ high fives at the end of a game; making sure all players have their own water/drink bottles and are not sharing.

As the situation continues to develop, in conjunction with Little League International, we will do our best to continue to keep our leagues, volunteers, and families informed.

Any questions or concerns please feel free to reach out to us.
